HDR Engineering Inc. was hired by the Missouri Department of Transportation to recommend intersection improvements to lessen traffic delays and to increase safety along Route 125. Officials recommended traffic signals, roadway corridor modernization, access management, street lighting, sidewalk improvements for pedestrians, and roundabouts at Route 125 and Interstate 44 eastbound and westbound ramps, and Route 125 and Chestnut Street. The $4.9 million project is funded by state road funds. A field topographic survey and the preliminary design phase began this month, and construction is scheduled to start in 2024 for an estimated completion in October 2025.
