Monett Middle School
David Sippy Drive, Monett
Last year, Sapp Design Associates Architects PC developed a master plan for Monett R-1 Schools, which included a new sixth to eighth-grade middle school on the existing high school’s campus. In June, the district passed a quarter-cent tax levy increase to fund the $21 million school, which will serve 700 students in approximately 78,000 square feet. Adjacent to the Scott Regional Technology Center, officials say the project includes security upgrades and is being designed for flexibility and expansion. Future phases of the district’s master plan include converting the new middle school into the high school. A general contractor has not yet been selected. The project is expected to wrap in fall 2022.
Connected to Watkins Elementary School is a new storm shelter now under construction.
