Malone Finkle Eckhardt & Collins is the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineer for the Cherokee Middle School’s renovation and addition. Sapp Design Associates Architects PC is the architect. Other engineers are Scott Consulting Engineers PC, structural; and Anderson Engineering Inc., civil. The project adds 71,500 square feet and renovates 54,000 square feet at Cherokee, and facilitates the addition of 27,700 square feet as needed. Of the existing building, 49,000 square feet will be demolished during the project, and at completion, the building will have 125,600 square feet. In addition to HVAC system improvements, the project also brings new water, fire, telephone, Internet and electrical services into the school. The design includes occupancy sensors, low-flow plumbing fixtures and building management systems to minimize energy use.
