Summer 2008 Project Report: Architects: Sapp Design Associates Architects PC

Posted online

Location: Mountain Home, Ark.

General Contractor: Gregory Construction with Nabholz Construction Corp. as owner’s representative

Estimated Cost: $9.8 million

Sapp Design Associates designed this two-story, 35,500-square-foot library for the Baxter County Library District. There are no engineers on the project. The project is the culmination of a three-year planning effort, and funding is from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation. The project will enable the library to expand its book collection and accommodate more visitors. There will be a dedicated children’s library, a teen library, reading areas and more than 35 computer stations. Plans include a coffee shop, community meeting rooms and a genealogy section. Space also is allotted for the Twin Lakes Literacy Council, Friends of the Library and the Library Foundation. Sustainable design techniques and a ground-source geothermal mechanical system have been included to cut energy use and costs. Completion is slated for spring 2010.[[In-content Ad]]
