Suit alleges United violated $5B coronavirus aid agreement

A Chicago-based United Airlines worker filed suit against his employer, alleging the company violated the terms of its $5 billion federal paycheck aid package.

Kenneth England, a shift manager who works out of O’Hare International Airport, alleges in the lawsuit that United told management and administration employees to take 20 unpaid days off, just two weeks after receiving the federal aid.

Part of the $25 billion in government aid that went to the nation’s biggest airlines, the funds were designed to pay workers and avoid massive layoffs in the industry.

A United Airlines spokesperson said the lawsuit is “without merit."
