Subway in 2018 closed a net 1,108 restaurants, more than double what it had forecast.
The U.S. closure number is higher than a previous company record of 866 closures in 2017 and 357 in 2016.
The company now has nearly 25,000 locations in the U.S., down from 27,129 at the end of 2016.
