O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) and Jack Henry & Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY) are the two best-performing stocks in Missouri, according to a study released yesterday by financial data tracker SmartAsset.
The firm ranked Missouri-based public companies based on stock price, dividends paid and volatility from Dec. 30, 2009, to March 31, 2015. Only companies with a market value greater than $50 million were considered, and each stock’s performance was measured against a three-month Treasury bill dated March 31 as the risk-free rate, according to a news release.
No. 1-rated O’Reilly Automotive - categorized as a large cap company with a market value of greater than $10 billion - has an average annual stock return of 38.3 percent and volatility of 22.1 percent. Overall, the stock’s performance was 76.2 on a 100-point scale.
Monett-based Jack Henry - the No. 2 company categorized with a mid cap market value of $2 billion to $10 billion - posted an average annual return of 22.5 percent and volatility of 18 percent. Its overall index is 61.9, according to the release.
