Housing is now unaffordable for a record half of U.S. renters, according to a newly released report from the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.
The report found half of U.S. renters in 2022 paid more than 30% of their income for rent and utilities.
Of those people, almost half were severely cost-burdened, paying more than 50% of their income, according to the study.
