Study: Airlines to bring in record $57B in passenger fees

A study by consulting firm IdeaWorks Co. and online car-rental site Cartrawler found airline customers are likely to pay the most ever this year for passenger fees.

Airlines are set to bring in $57 billion this year for services such as extra legroom and checked bags.

"It's reasonable to suggest ancillary revenue will someday exceed the airline industry's annual fuel bill," the report reads.
