Strayer Education Inc. announced plans to merge with smaller peer Capella Education Co.
The all-stock, $1.9 billion deal will create a combined company offering doctoral, master's and bachelor's programs, largely for working Americans.
Through the deal, Strayer shareholders would own about 52 percent of the combined company. Capella shareholders would own the remainder.
