A panel of five independent judges for the Springfield Business Journal's 2000 Economic Impact Awards completed deliberations last week and announced finalists in the five industry categories. |ret||ret||tab|
Judges rendered decisions based on nominations and applications from companies involved in the real estate, telecommunications, retail, information technology and financial services sectors. |ret||ret||tab|
Criteria included employment and sales growth, as well as other factors contributing to significant economic impact in Springfield and southwest Missouri during the past year. The awards will culminate with a special banquet, set for 7:10 p.m., July 20 at the Tower Club and is being held in conjunction with the Business Journal's 20th anniversary celebration.|ret||ret||tab|
Finalists in the five categories, along with a profile of the recipient of an award honoring an individual for Lifetime Achievement in Business, will be featured in a glossy, magazine-style publication to be distributed in the July 17, 2000, weekly edition. One award from each category will be presented at the Economic Impact Awards banquet.|ret||ret||tab|

The three finalists from each category are: Carol Jones, Rankin & Company and Murney Associates in the real estate category; ProTel Communication Systems, Russell Cellular Inc. and Southwestern Bell for the telecommunications category; Nixa Hardware & Seed, Walgreens, and Wickman's Garden Village in the retail category; Networks Inc., TravelNow.com and Jack Henry & Associates in the information technology category; First USA, Liberty Bank and The Bank in the financial services category.|ret||ret||tab|
