StoneBridge Village, a CooperShares Resorts Inc. property located in Branson, is planning to make a splash with its new $400,000 family pool park, Splash Falls, slated to open in spring 1999, according to a release from Cooper Communities Inc.
"We're primarily known as a golf resort. Golf's a great game, but it's not the only activity available at StoneBridge Village," said Bob Richey, executive vice president of CooperShares Resorts, in the news release.
"Splash Falls will be more of a family gathering place; a place that will appeal to all age groups," he added.
Designed by architect Tom Fish, of Branson, Splash Falls will feature waterfalls, Jacuzzi, a water gun and multiple pools. Fish is also the designer of the White Water Parks and Silver Dollar City's Geyser Gulch.
The 25,000-square-foot facility will jut out of a hillside with three tiers of pools, bathhouses and a lounge/picnic pavilion, the release said.
A gazebo, flanked by two waterfalls, will overlook the pools and empty into an L-shaped activity pool designed for water volleyball, aerobics and other group activities. Water from this pool will cascade four feet into a children's pool.
A special feature of the development is a separate pool featuring a product made by the Interactive Waterplay System company. Richey described it as "a playground in the water."
The equipment includes a water slide, water curtain, various types of water jets and a water gun.
Fish said the fact that the facility is built into a hillside is "conducive to the three-level design, plus it offers a nice view of the hills."
A feature of the facility is a "negative edge pool," which makes the water appear as if it were disappearing over the horizon, Fish said.
Fish also emphasized the facility's tapered pool floor. "It's what we call a 'beach approach,' meaning you walk into it as opposed to actually stepping down into the pool," he said.
Construction is now underway for Splash Falls, with a targeted completion date of April 1999.
StoneBridge Village, opened in 1993, is one of three CooperShares Resorts being developed by Cooper Communities Inc.
The Bella Vista, Ark.-based company is developing five recreational communities in Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and South Carolina.
