A Stockton attorney has pleaded guilty to a fraud scheme to the tune of nearly $300,000.
Peter A. Lee, 50, admitted to defrauding clients for his own personal gain and concealing the scheme through false representations made to clients and financial institutions, according to a news release from the office of R. Matthew Price, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri. His victims included decedent estates and a special needs trust, the release notes.
According to the U.S. attorney's office, Lee obtained $296,140 through the fraud scheme from January 2019 through February 2025.
As part of the plea agreement, Lee agreed to voluntarily surrender his law license, according to the release.
Under federal statutes, Lee could be sentenced to 20 years in federal prison without parole. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled following the completion of the presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
