Stocks weak as U.S. shutdown looms

U.S. stock futures were all down by roughly 0.8 percent as investors lose faith in their political leaders and worry about the effect a shutdown could have on the U.S. economy, according to a CNNMoney report.

Economist Robert Wood of Berenberg Bank says if nothing is agreed upon tonight, which he says seems likely, an economic hit will occur.

All three indexes are up for the quarter, led by the Nasdaq, which has risen 11 percent. But, according to CNNMoney, the markets have pulled back on news of a potential shutdown and the U.S. nearing its debt ceiling.
