The city of St. Louis will not implement a temporary ban on data centers after the idea was floated earlier this month.
Mayor Cara Spencer signed an executive order on Thursday that calls on the city to create a framework for data centers over a five-month period.
“We recognize that data centers play a role in – an important role – in the technology infrastructure that forward-thinking, forward-moving cities need to have as part of an ecosystem that can attract other types of technology companies and technology innovation to their communities," Spencer said, according to St. Louis Public Radio.
