St. Louis native and billionaire John Doerr donated $1.1 billion to Stanford University.
His gift, the largest contribution ever made to the school, is slated to create the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.
Doerr, 70, is chair of venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins. Forbes estimates his net worth at $11.1 billion.
