STL mayor won't run for reelection

St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson announced her first term in office will be her last.

Krewson said in a surprise announcement that she would retire at the end of her term in 2021.

“A new mayor will lead us forward," she said. “I’m proud of what we accomplished, but elections are about the future. And I know that in St. Louis we have the talent and the heart to build a better St. Louis.”

Krewson won the 2017 general election to become the city's first female mayor.
