STL mayor enacts hiring freeze on some roles

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones is enacting a hiring freeze on nonessential city positions.

Jones cited, in part, a state House bill that would exempt remote workers who don't live in St. Louis from the city's earnings tax.

The hiring freeze does not apply to roles such as police officers and sanitation employees.
