The city of St. Louis has started the eminent domain process for a long-vacant building in the downtown area.
The city’s Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority filed a petition in circuit court to take over the Railway Exchange Building. The city was unable to reach a purchase agreement with building owner Hudson Holdings.
“If you’re an absentee property owner, neglect is no longer welcome in the city of St. Louis,” Mayor Tishaura Jones said in a statement of Florida-based Hudson Holdings.
