JW Aluminum plans to close its St. Louis foil factory on May 30.
The closure impacts 190 employees.
"This outcome is one we all worked diligently to prevent. However, even with multiple tariffs and duties now in place, it hasn't been enough to overcome the devastating effects of China's market-distorting behavior," JW Aluminum CEO Lee McCarter said.
JW Aluminum bought the plant in 2004 from Alcoa. Dating back to 1889, the plant is considered to be the oldest U.S. foil factory.
