STL developer, philanthropist dies at 92

St. Louis developer and philanthropist Fred Kummer Jr. died April 30. He was 92.

Kummer was the founder and chairperson of HBE Corp., a multibillion-dollar company that has developed more than 1,100 commercial projects nationwide.

Kummer last fall made a $300 million donation to a new nonprofit, the Kummer Institute Foundation, to support his alma mater, Missouri University of Science and Technology.
