St. Louis-based construction company McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. was selected for a $70 million project.
The company will work on upgrades to the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lawrence.
The construction marks the city's second largest wastewater project to date. The first was the plant’s construction in 1956.
