St. Louis-based BeLeaf Medical became the first company in Missouri to open a medical marijuana cultivation facility, according to media reports.
Kevin Riggs, president of the growing operation, said it would take 90-120 days before the plants would yield product that's ready for dispensary store shelves.
Riggs estimated dispensaries would start to open across the state in the next three to six months. BeLeaf also has the licensing to open dispensaries, with its first in St. Peters expected to launch in the next 90 days.
