STL board to hire consultants for riverfront stadium plans

Posted online
Yesterday, the public board that developed the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis voted to hire consultants to create a plan to build a 64,000-seat, open-air stadium on the north riverfront area of downtown.

The resolution, which is designed to keep the St. Louis Rams in town, was unanimously approved by the St. Louis Regional Convention and Sports Complex Authority. The vote was both technical and symbolic because stadium planners have largely volunteered their time and now the public body would have money to spend.

The action comes as Rams owner Stan Kroenke moves closer to construction of an 80,000-seat stadium in Inglewood, Calif., according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
