STL-area home sales climb in 2015

Home sales through July of this year are up by double digits across the St. Louis area, making 2015 the region’s best year for residential real estate since the housing bubble burst.

Year-to-date, home sales in suburban St. Charles County are up 21 percent.

In July alone, the number of home sales increased 20 percent in the area compared to the same month last year.

Prices are rising, too – up 5 percent in the year ending in June, according to market tracker Zillow – but there is still a 7 percent gap between the median home value of $135,200 in June and the area’s prerecession median in June 2007 of $158,000.
