A St. Louis-area paving contractor has been awarded a $109 million judgment by a St. Louis County jury.
Belleville, Illinois-based Gleeson Asphalt Inc. alleged in a lawsuit against Chicago-based Lafarge North America Inc., its supplier, that it was sold the wrong kind of base rock. The lawsuit also alleged Lafarge misrepresented the product it sold.
Gleeson Asphalt was awarded $108.3 million in punitive damages and $942,936 in compensatory damages.
