A subsidiary of St. Louis-based Stifel Financial filed suit against a new Indianapolis financial firm.
The suit alleges the management and nearly all of the employees of one of Stifel, Nicolaus & Co.’s Indianapolis offices improperly left at the same time to start Sapient Capital LLC.
The suit claims the sudden move left thousands of Stifel’s customers without financial advisers and alleges Sapient engaged in false advertising and other tactics.
Sapient officials said the "claims are meritless."
