It's official: The NBA has clipped Donald Sterling.
In a Tuesday news conference, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced Los Angeles Clippers owner Sterling has been banned for life from the NBA and given the maximum fine possible of $2.5 million for racist remarks.
CNN reports, under the lifetime ban, Sterling is prohibited from attending games or practices, stepping foot inside any Clippers' facility, taking part in business or personnel decisions, or having a role in league activities, including attendance at NBA Board of Governors meetings. Silver said he would do everything in his power to force a sale of the team.
Forbes magazine reports Sterling would profit from the sale, valuing the team at about $575 million. Sterling bought the Clippers in 1981 for $12 million.
