Steppenwolfer advances to Kentucky Derby

Posted online
Locally owned racehorse Steppenwolfer finished second in Saturday’s Arkansas Derby to earn a spot in the May 6 Kentucky Derby.

Steppenwolfer, owned by Prime Inc. owners Robert and Lawana Low, finished behind clear favorite Lawyer Ron. The second-place finish at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., earned the 3-year-old colt $200,000, and Steppenwolfer’s season earnings are now $230,000.

The horse is rated No. 8 in the Kentucky Derby field with 47-1 odds, according to the Associated Press.

Steppenwolfer was slated to travel to Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky., today.

Steppenwolfer is one of about 150 horses Robert Low has owned since 1995.[[In-content Ad]]
