The Missouri Department of Social Services announced today it has completed its plans for statewide health information exchange.
The state has access to about $13.8 million in federal recovery funds, which it will use to underwrite the planning and implementation process, according to a Social Services news release.
Statewide health information exchange will allow health care providers and consumers easier access to information via electronic means. The plan is expected to lower costs, reduce errors and generally save time, according to the release.
The information exchange will be governed by a not-for-profit organization called the Missouri Statewide Health Information Organization.
The board is expected to build an exchange network this month.[[In-content Ad]]
