State's fiscal 2013 tax collections rise to $1.9B

Missouri's September general revenue collections were $743.2 million, bringing total fiscal 2013 collections to $1.9 billion.

Last month's collections represented an increase for both the month and the fiscal year, which began July 1. In August 2011, collections were $697.3 million; fiscal 2013 tax revenue collections have increased 6.6 percent from the same period last year, when the state collected $1.78 billion, according to a news release.

Fiscal 2013 gross collections by tax type:
  • Individual income tax collections have increased 3.7 percent for the fiscal year, to $1.29 billion from $1.25 billion in the same period of fiscal 2012.
  • State and use tax collections rose slightly to $471 million from $467.1 million.
  • Corporate income and franchise tax collections were $105 million, a 1.5 percent increase from $103.5 million.
  • All other collections jumped 30.3 percent to $138 million from $106 million.
  • Refunds decreased 24.5 percent to $105.4 million from $139.7 million.
For September, individual income tax collections increased 11.6 percent year-to-year; sales and use tax collections dropped 9.9 percent; corporate income and franchise tax collection rose 3.2 percent; all other collections decreased by 19.5 percent; and refunds fell 31.8 percent, according to the release.
