The Missouri Department of Revenue this month issued the city of Springfield a $4.5 million sales tax check.
Reflecting sales processing by the state in June on transactions made mostly in May, the July check is down 1 percent compared to the same month in 2014, according to a news release.
However, the receipt was 8.8 percent above the city’s estimate of $4.1 million for the July check.
Sales tax revenues are the main source of revenue for city services such as Police and Fire operations. Springfield’s general fund receives 60 percent of its revenue from sales and use taxes, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
