Montee will deliver the state’s report and recommendations at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the CU Training Center, 301 E. Central St.
The report follows Montee’s visit to Springfield on Dec. 6 to discuss her office’s audit of the city, the results of which focused heavily on potential liabilities from downtown investments and the city’s lack of an internal auditor. Other concerns brought to light included the unfunded liability of the Police Officers and Firemen’s Retirement System Plan, weaknesses in the city’s cash-collection procedures and inadequate controls on city-issued credit cards.
Audits of the city and CU both began in 2006 after Montee received a citizens’ petition from voters who questioned city management.[[In-content Ad]]
