State social services director resigns

Posted online
The director of the Missouri Department of Social Services has stepped down from his post to resume his private-sector job.

The resignation, effective May 31, allows Alan Freeman to return to his position as president and CEO of Grace Hill Health Centers Inc. in St. Louis. Gov. Jay Nixon has named the department's deputy director, Brian Kinkade, as acting director upon Freeman's resignation, according to a news release.

“I greatly appreciate Alan’s leadership and service to the state of Missouri, and his tireless commitment to improving the health of Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens,” Nixon said in the release. “Returning to Grace Hill will allow Alan to continue to serve our state and pursue his passion for providing quality, affordable health care to families in need.”

Freeman was named to the position by Nixon in December 2012. Kinkade has been an employee with the state Department of Social Services through five administrations.

“Brian is a trusted leader whose long career has earned him respect on both sides of the aisle,” Nixon added. “I have full confidence in his continued commitment to helping Missouri’s children and families live safe and healthy lives.”[[In-content Ad]]
