It's been slow going for public enrollment on the federal health exchange marketplace, which has been plagued with website issues – enrolling just 248 people nationwide in the first two days. However, states who chose to set up their own exchange under the Affordable Care Act might be faring a bit better.
According to Bloomberg, a nationwide October tally is set to be released later this week, but early numbers obtained by Bloomberg for the 12 states with state-run insurance are bleak, with just 49,100 enrollees.
Enrollment through Nov. 10 represents 3 percent of the 1.4 million people projected to sign up in those states by the end of 2014, according to Washington-based Avalere Health. The administration had a target of 800,000 sign-ups nationwide for the first two months, and the Congressional Budget Office has projected that 7 million people would enroll through 2014.
