State revenue shows small improvement in November

Missouri's net general revenue collections for November were up 6.9 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the data released Wednesday by the Missouri Office of Administration.

Net general revenue collections for the month totaled $557.8 million, up from $522 million in November 2008. For fiscal 2010 so far, collections total $2.7 billion, down 7.7 percent from the same period in fiscal 2009.

Most collection categories showed improvement for the month. Individual income tax collections in November totaled $417.9 million, up 2 percent from last year, while sales and use tax collections totaled $151.1 million, up 5.1 percent.

Corporate income and corporate franchise tax collections declined 19.8 percent for the month, continuing their down year; that category is down more than 12 percent for the year overall.

All other collection types were up 25.8 percent for the month, while refunds were down 19.3 percent in November.
