State reports August general revenues

Posted online
Missouri net general revenue collections for August were up 3.2 percent, or $587.5 million, from August 2004, Commissioner of Administration Mike Keathley announced today.

Net revenues for 2006 fiscal year-to-date are up 3 percent, from $1.01 billion last year to $1.04 billion this year.

Sales and use tax collections were up 8.4 percent in August and 1.4 percent for the year-to-date, at $350.6 million this year compared to $345.8 million last year.

Corporate income and franchise tax collections were up 35.3 percent for the month and 84.2 percent for the year-to-date, from $25.3 million last year to $46.6 million this year.

All other collections were down 10.9 percent for August and 5 percent for the year, from $68.9 million last year to $65.5 million this year.

State resources dedicated to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts will affect the state’s cash flow, and Gov. Matt Blunt is concerned about further indirect impacts of Hurricane Katrina on Missouri’s revenue collections in months to come, Keathley said in a news release.
