The state of Missouri owes Greene County nearly $1.8 million in overdue jail payments, the Springfield News-Leader reports.
Missouri owes some $19.3 million to around 100 counties for housing state prisoners, according to the report.
Presiding Commissioner Bob Cirtin told the News-Leader the county has used reserve funds in lieu of the $1.8 million owed by the state.
