State leaders to present at manufacturing conference

Five Missouri department heads will speak at the Associated Industries of Missouri’s 2007 manufacturing conference Nov. 14-15 in Columbia.

With a “Manufacturing Matters!” theme, the conference will feature sessions such as Manufacturers’ Sales Tax Exemption, Missouri Career Readiness Certificate, Using Quality Management as the Foundation for Your Success and Customer Service Focused Organizations.

The keynote speaker will be author and product developer Doug Hall, who founded the Eureka! Ranch for corporate retreats.

Other speakers include:

• Omar Davis, director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, who will provide the opening remarks;

• Doyle Childers, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, who will lead a session on the DNR’s new Ombudsman Program and how it can assist employers with environmental compliance issues;

• Greg Steinhoff, director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Pete Rahn, director of the Missouri Department of Transportation, who together will provide an address on economic development issues and transportation; and

• Trish Vincent, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, and Lowell Pearson, DOR assistant director, who will join Ray McCarty, executive director of the Taxpayers Research Institute of Missouri, to discuss the manufacturers’ sales tax exemption, which went into effect Aug. 28.

The cost to attend the conference is $285 for AIM/TRIM members, $250 for additional employees from member companies and $385 for nonmembers. More information and a registration form are available at www.aimo.com under Conferences/Seminars.
