State lawmaker from Chesterfield resigns

Missouri Rep. Don Gosen, R-Chesterfield, resigned abruptly Wednesday, citing unspecified personal reasons.

"There's been several rumors floating around the Capitol," Gosen, who had chaired the House Insurance Committee, told St. Louis Public Radio. "Some of them are true, some of them not. It's personal things that need to be handled between myself and my family."

Gosen alluded to an ethics push following the resignations of House Speaker John Diehl last May and Sen. Paul LeVota several months later. Diehl resigned after acknowledging he exchanged sexually charged text messages with an intern, while LeVota stepped down after being accused of sexually harassing interns.
