The Missouri Labor Department on Thursday announced the 2010 prevailing wage rates for workers on public construction projects.
The state's Annual Wage Order contains prevailing wage rates for multiple occupational titles in each county, according to a department news release. The wage marks the minimum that must be paid to workers on public works projects such as bridges, roads, schools and government buildings.
In Greene County, hourly rates range from $14.50 for communication technicians to $32.21 for boilermakers. The complete list is available at
the Department of Labor Web site.
For most workers, the regular work day consists of eight hours of work between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and the work week is five eight-hour days Monday through Friday. Work outside those hours or on Saturday is paid at 1.5 times the normal rate, while work on Sundays, after midnight or on holidays earns double pay.
The state Division of Labor Standards gathers wage information for public and private commercial construction projects from contractors, unions and government bodies, the release said. The division uses that information to determine rates for 26 occupational titles and their subgroups in each county.[[In-content Ad]]
