State general revenue down 5.6 percent

The Missouri Office of Administration announced Thursday that general revenue so far for fiscal year 2010 is down 5.6 percent from last year.

General revenue through August totals $1.06 billion, down from $1.12 billion in the first two months of fiscal 2009, according to a news release. For the month of August, general revenue collections declined 4.1 percent to $589.5 million.

Sales and use tax collections decreased 4.9 percent to $318.4 million for the year and 0.9 percent for the month, while individual income tax collections decreased 5.2 percent to $738.5 million for the year and 4.6 percent in August.

Corporate income and corporate franchise tax collections increased 31.8 percent for the year, to $36.7 million, and 37.8 percent for the month. All other collections decreased 8.5 percent for the year and 9.0 percent for the month.
