Missouri's average retail gasoline prices fell 6.6 cents during the week of June 25-July 1 to $3.17 per gallon, 20 cents below the national average.
The U.S. average, which also dropped 6.6 cents during the week, yesterday was $3.37 per gallon, 24 cents lower than a month ago and 19.8 cents lower than a year ago. Missouri's average decreased 14.3 cents from a month ago and 21.2 cents from a year ago, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
The average price of gas in Missouri rose 1 cent this morning, placing the state at No. 13 on GasBuddy.com's list of the
lowest gas averages by state. With an average of $2.89 per gallon, South Carolina had the least expensive gas in the nation.
As of 9:50 a.m., eight filling stations in Caruthersville and Sikeston had the cheapest gas in Missouri, at $2.91 per gallon. The most expensive gas in the state was $3.53 per gallon at a station in north Kansas City.
In Springfield, Sam's Club locations at 3660 E. Sunshine St. and 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive had the lowest gas prices at $3.09 per gallon, while several stations were selling gas at or below $3.15 per gallon, according to
MissouriGasPrices.com.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $83.46 per barrel as of 9:53 a.m., up from $78.88 a week ago. Light sweet crude oil futures for August were trading at $83.28 per barrel on the
New York Mercantile Exchange.
