The average retail gasoline price in Missouri increased by 3.7 cents to $3.76 per gallon during the week ending Sept. 16.
The state's average was 10 cents below the U.S. average of $3.86 per gallon, which represented a 2.3-cent increase during the past week, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
The Missouri average yesterday was 17.3 cents higher than a month ago and 39.9 cents higher than the same day in 2011, while the U.S. average increased 15.8 cents month-to-month and 24.9 cents year-to-year.
Missouri's average was unchanged this morning, ranking the state No. 15 on GasBuddy.com's list of the
lowest gas averages by state. Mississippi, at $3.60 per gallon, had the lowest average in the country, while the highest average, $4.39 per gallon, was reported in Hawaii.
Two stations in Festus and Crystal City had the least expensive gas in MIssouri this morning, at $3.54 per gallon. A station in Lebanon had the highest cost of gas in the state, at $3.94 per gallon, according to
MissouriGasPrices.com.
In Springfield, the lowest gas price was $3.60 per gallon, available at two stations: Phillips 66, 3016 S. Scenic Ave., and Conoco, 3106 W. Battlefield Road.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $99.27 per barrel as of 11:06 a.m., compared to a 52-week range of $75.92 to $109.95. Light sweet crude oil futures for October were trading at $99.31 per barrel on the
