The Missouri gas average increased by 3 cents during the past week to $3.43 per gallon yesterday.
Comparatively, the U.S. average fell 0.4 cents and sat at $3.57 per gallon on Aug. 25, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
Including changes during the past week, Missouri's average yesterday was 11.6 cents lower than a month ago and 18.3 cents less than a year ago. The U.S. average decreased 9.5 cents month-to-month and 16.6 cents year-to-year.
Missouri's average held steady this morning, landing the state at No. 13 on GasBuddy's
list of the lowest gas averages in the U.S. At $3.31 per gallon, South Carolina held the top spot, and Hawaii ranked at the bottom with an average of $4.25 per gallon.
The lowest price for gas in Missouri this morning was $3.15 per gallon, available at eight stations in Cape Girardeau and Dexter. A high price of $3.69 per gallon was selling in University City. GasBuddy.com surveys 3,940 gas outlets in Missouri daily.
In Springfield, a low price of $3.30 per gallon was available at the the city's Sam's Club stores - 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive and 3660 E. Sunshine St - while the Kum & Go station at 1313 W. Battlefield Road priced gas at $3.33 per gallon, according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
