State Farm Mutual Insurance Co. is paying consumers who currently own previously damaged vehicles affected by the state’s settlement earlier this year with the company.
The agreement was reached after Nixon and 48 other state attorneys general filed suit against the company, stating it failed to properly title vehicles as salvageable. The agreement covers about 30,000 vehicles nationwide.
Information about the 265 vehicles affected in Missouri is available on Nixon’s Web site, www.ago.mo.gov, and includes identification numbers, make, model and year.
Owners of the vehicles have been contacted by mail, and final amounts for each will depend on the current value of their vehicle and how many consumers choose to participate in the payment program.
Vehicle owners also can choose to take their own legal action against State Farm instead of accepting the settlement payment.
