State Department official charged with aiding China

A career State Department official has been charged with aiding Chinese intelligence agents.

Candace Marie Claiborne, 60, allegedly received gifts and travel worth tens of thousands of dollars in exchange for her access to "sensitive diplomatic data."

“Claiborne used her position and her access to sensitive diplomatic data for personal profit," said acting Assistant Attorney General Mary McCord, the Justice Department's national security division chief.
