The state of Missouri issued a $50,000 grant to the city of Marshfield.
The funds are earmarked for the city to identify wastewater system improvements, meet permit requirements and reduce stormwater infiltration into sewer collection pipes, according to a news release. A facility plan is slated for completion in March 2023.
“We are proud to offer communities like Marshfield funding assistance vehicles that can help them undertake water and wastewater improvement projects,” said Dru Buntin, director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, which awarded the clean water engineering report grant, in the release.
“We can tailor assistance programs for cities of all sizes so they can improve their water treatment systems, which help protect public and environmental health while reaping extraordinary economic benefits.”
Such grants from the DNR help small communities with engineering costs related to wastewater system evaluations. The DNR works with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency funding on the grant program, according to the release.
