St. Louis Public Schools received the lowest possible rating in an audit by Missouri State Auditor Scott Fitzpatrick's office.
The "poor" rating takes issue with expense control, the district's ability to follow procurement laws and executive-level compensation under the leadership of former Superintendent Keisha Scarlett, according to KSDK.
“The report we've released today sounds the alarm regarding the district's financial condition and will help the district improve operationally," Fitzpatrick said in a statement.
