Minimally viable product ...
We didn’t do an MVP. We just jumped into the craziness of being open and selling flowers.

Problem solving ...
We want customers to feel like part of our family. We want to help them make their friends and family feel special.

Seed money ...
Our startup capital was between $20,000 and $25,000.

Hurdles overcome ...
My sister is my partner and she is capable of building anything needed, which has been a huge asset. She was able to be here all day long through the buildout and kept us moving forward on time.

Next phase ...
We just opened Oct. 28 [at 1307 E. Montclair St.]. Next phase is to get busier and let people know we are here.

Pivot ...
Our logo. When we got into the space and the carpet was pulled up, there is this great black and white tile. It didn’t match with the brown and green logo, so I changed to incorporate the black and white.

Biggest mistake ...
Honestly, the only redo is the first cash register we bought. It didn’t do what we needed it to. Other than that, we are good, things seem to be the way we want.

Best advice …
Work hard and be nice.

Worst advice …
Haven’t had any “worst” yet. Most all advice can be thought of positive if you look at it from all angles.

Greatest need ...
Customers. Patience. Laughter.

Food for thought ...
If you want to open something and are passionate about it, don’t wait. Get your ducks in a row and jump. If you fail, look at the experience and learn from it, then move on. I have been a part of four successful businesses and one failed nonprofit. I have learned from all.
